National Engineering Research Center for Beijing Biochip Technology Certified by Chinese NDRC

October 29, 2007 Beijing -- The National Engineering Research Center for Beijing Biochip Technology (NERCBBT), the affiliated R&D arm of CapitalBio Corporation has been certified by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) recently. This certification marked the completion and acceptance by the Chinese government for NERCBBT as a key national center for advanced research in biochip and related technologies.

Nestled in the wooded lakeside within the ZGC Life Science Park in northwest Beijing, the completed state-of-the-art facilities span 24,000 m2, offering leading settings for advanced research and development of various kinds of biochips such as DNA and protein microarrays, integrated microsystems, bioassays, bioinformatics, and precision instruments & equipments. The leaf shaped glass building also houses ISO certified, GMP manufacturing shops or production suites for diagnostic biochips and related reagent kits, as well as sophisticated microfabrication facilities for silicon or plastic-based microfluidic chips. NERCBBT has to date developed and commercialized numerous advanced products such as microarray biochip readers or scanners, chip arrayers, related reagent kits, software for applications in discovery research, clinical diagnostics and biosafety testing. Many products have been widely adopted by Austria, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Korea, Spain,Sweden , Thailand, U.K. and U.S. The Center´s broad and fruitful R&D programs have yielded over 60 issued patents from China, 17 from overseas, plus many ten´s of pending patents. The Center has also received numerous awards from the Central Government, Chinese Ministries, and Beijing Municipal Government, including the prestigious National Award for Technology Invention.
