CapitalBio Provides High-level Microarray Services

Beijing, China, September 15, 2006 – In the August 31, 2006 issue of Nature, one of the world´s foremost scientific journals, the CapitalBio Corporation was recommended as an international provider of microarray products and services. The "Technology Features" column of that issue focused on the development of microarray technology and services, microarray quality control standards and practices, robotics and automation and information sharing. CapitalBio was the only company from mainland China recommended, amongst a number of other well-known international companies such as Affymetrix, Agilent and Illumina.

Microarray Quality Control Standards: A China Perspective

Microarrays represent a core technology in pharmacogenomics and toxicogenomics; however, before this technology can successfully and reliably be used in clinical practice and regulatory decision-making, standards and quality measures need to be developed. Eight main biochip platform providers, 6 FDA sub-centers and other famous research institutes were selected by US FDA to undertake the MAQC project (Microarray Quality Control). For the project, CapitalBio, the only participating biochip company in Asia, has obtained satisfactory test results with its internally developed microarray platform, and the articles, "Performance comparison of one-color and two-color platforms within the MicroArray Quality Control (MAQC) project", "The MicroArray Quality Control (MAQC) project shows inter- and intraplatform reproducibility of gene expression measurements" had been published in Nature Biotechnology in the September, 2006 issue.
